About Dr. Amit D. Shah, MD/PhD, FACC
Dr. Amit Shah received his Bachelor of Science degree, cum laude, in 1991 from the University of Maryland. In 1999, he completed a combined program to earn an M.D., Ph.D. from the School of Bioengineering at the University of Maryland.
Dr. Shah completed his Residency in Internal Medicine and was recognized as an outstanding resident in his graduating class at the University of Medicine and Dentistry New Jersey (UMDNJ). He then completed a fellowship in Clinical Cardiology at UMDNJ in 2005, when he was named the “most distinguished Fellow of the year”. Dr. Shah completed his training in Electrophysiology from Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles in 2006. Dr. Shah is the Director of the Electrophysiology Laboratory at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens, Ga. Dr. Shah practices general cardiology and specializes in implanting pacemakers, defibrillators, and performing electrophysiology studies and ablations of arrhythmia.
Dr. Shah is Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Cardiac Electrophysiology, and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.
